I came in second place at a photography workshop I went to last month. I'm calling this post "winning" because i feel like the walk on who just landed a starting spot on a top team. Yeah, maybe I'm not the best guy on the team, but before going to camp that day there was no way i'd consider myself even in that argument. Depending on how I'd like to spin this, I came in 2nd at a photo competition between 25 military photographers, all of which had to compete just to receive an invitation for this workshop. Yeah there are guys who are deployed, or ones who didn't know/make the deadline, but at the end of the day I impressed myself. On top of

Almost done with all these applications and submissions. Good news though, I found out on Friday I was accepted as one of 25 military photographers to attend a workshop in DC this June. That's a bit of confidence as I finalize my package for this next workshop. I've got the 20 photos uploaded, but don't want to hit the submit button now. I'll give it one more look in the morning and then hit GO. I've got to say that the worst thing about this is I realize more and more that my passion for this art is in news photography, something about on-site real world events gets me going. I don't know what path I can follow photography and be both happy

While out of town about a week ago I left my camera at a friends house, and I'm still waiting to get it back. I know the guy is going to send it, but I know it's a more important issue for me than he. To compliment my recent disgust at the results of a recent contests I entered, I am now trying to create portfolio entries for two photography workshops later on this year.
