I came in second place at a photography workshop I went to last month. I'm calling this post "winning" because i feel like the walk on who just landed a starting spot on a top team. Yeah, maybe I'm not the best guy on the team, but before going to camp that day there was no way i'd consider myself even in that argument.
Depending on how I'd like to spin this, I came in 2nd at a photo competition between 25 military photographers, all of which had to compete just to receive an invitation for this workshop. Yeah there are guys who are deployed, or ones who didn't know/make the deadline, but at the end of the day I impressed myself.
On top of that, I have been selected to attend this year's Eddie Adams Workshop -- another incredible honor. The year began on a sour note, I didn't receive even an honorable mention at my service or military-wide awards, but this year seems to be coming around quite nice. It's a shame that I don't get the chance to use this improved skill shooting guys down range, at least for the near term. I'm still shooting and plan to have plenty to submit for awards at the end of this year.
The key here for me is that i keep improving. As long as I shoot better this month than last, and keep expanding my portfolio I think I'll be fine. Still not sure how this turns into a paycheck after the military, but that can wait for another day.
Still working on this site, but it's something.
